1 in 285 children will be diagnosed with cancer this year. From March 2, 2015 to June 15, 2015 men, women, and children from the Tampa Bay area and communities nationwide will take a bold step forward to help curb this staggering statistic.

They are shaving their heads for the 6th Annual Veredus Cut for a Cure Charity Challenge presented by Carrabba’s Italian Grill. All proceeds benefit the Pediatric Cancer Foundation and select nonprofit organizations.

We invite you to join us in the fight by making a donation today.

Teams

Academy of the Holy Names Team

We are shaving our heads to help fund the Pediatric Cancer Foundation and to support children with cancer.
As students of the Academy of the Holy Names, we would like to help children with cancer. Most of us are lucky and are very healthy. We realize that there are many children who are not as fortunate as we are. By joining together, we hope to raise money for PCF, but more importantly, to raise awareness about the staggering number of children with cancer, honor those who have died, and encourage those still fighting.
Last year was our first "Cut for the Cure" and we are so proud of what we accomplished. Hopefully, we can continue to make a difference.

Please donate today!

We have designated Pediatric Cancer Foundation as the full recipient of the donations we raise.

Academy Prep Center of Tampa

Cancer is the #1 disease killer of children under 15 in our country, and every day the equivalent of two classrooms of students are diagnosed with cancer. As a school serving children throughout the Tampa Bay area, the ongoing crusade against pediatric cancer is a cause we are compelled to support. Our school's mission is to inspire students qualifying for need-based scholarships to achieve, to give back, and to become future community leaders, and after 11 years of service, we have seen hundreds of dreams realized. By participating in Cut for a Cure, Academy Prep Tampa wants to get behind children and their families facing one of the biggest challenges of their lives. Our team is committed to raise at least $16,000 towards pediatric cancer research so that children facing cancer can also become future community leaders and realize their dreams. We ask that you help us strike against childhood cancer, as every dollar donated will help bring us close to a cure!

Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease among children under the age of 15 in the United States. By raising money and awareness, we are taking steps to ensure that more children can overcome and defeat cancer. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers proudly support the efforts of the Pediatric Cancer Foundation and stand united behind those battling cancer.  In 2012, the team hosted children and families affected by pediatric cancer at One Buccaneer Place to kick off National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month by dedicating a “Wall of Hope.”  A daily reminder of the Buccaneers’ commitment to pediatric cancer research, the “Wall of Hope” was displayed at One Buccaneer Place throughout September of 2012. Starting in 2013, the Buccaneers players, coaches and front office staff,  have participated in the Cut for a Cure Charity Challenge, raising over $20,000 for the cause. This year, the team hopes our efforts will not only raise funds for pediatric cancer research, but continue strengthening our community’s fight against this deadly disease.

Tangent Brewing

We will be shaving our heads because raising money for cancer research is extremely important. Cancer is typically not on the minds of most people until it affects someone we love. We can do more by donating to help fund research. The Pediatric Cancer Foundation is dedicated to funding research to eliminate childhood cancer. Their focus is to find less toxic and more targeted therapies. This is something we can all support.
We were challenged to participate by another local brewery, Cigar City Brewing. I believe it is the duty of all local businesses to participate in fundraising for causes we stand behind. So, we accept this challenge to shave our heads (or beards). Please join me in this challenge to help reach our fundraising goal!

Team Quantum Leap

Cancer doesn’t care about age. It doesn’t care about race, nationality, borders, religion or socio-economic levels. It can strike anyone, at any time.
At Quantum Leap Farm, we understand how this disease affects more people than those diagnosed. Through therapeutic horseback riding and other equine-assisted therapies, we help whole families battling cancer to stay connected, so together they may grow strong, achieve goals and overcome challenges by engaging with horses.
Quantum Leap is excited to be part of the “Cut for a Cure” event. Our team is hoping to reach an attainable $15,000 goal to promote awareness and raise some much needed funds to battle this monster called cancer. Team Quantum has gathered a group of adults, kids and even a couple of horses to add to our team of “future baldies”! Everyone is excited to participate in this amazing fundraising event.

Team South Pointe

Pediatric Cancer is a devastating disease that knows no boundaries and shows no mercy. Each year the lives of more than 160,000 children and their families are turned upside down when they are confronted with the most challenging fight of these young children’s lives. You would think that living in the most advanced society in the world and having access to the world’s best doctors and hospitals would be enough, but it’s not…Today, cancer remains the leading cause of death among children under the age of 15.

It’s because of facts like these that we have decided to make the symbolic gesture to shave our heads in support of the thousands of children that bravely wake each day to face this terrible disease head on. Their spirit and will to face the fear of the unknown with a positive attitude and relentless optimism should be an inspiration to us all. Our hope is that we can do our part to help increase awareness and encourage those like us that have been blessed both personally and professionally to help raise the needed funds to help them in their fight. So, please join us in doing our part to help fund the research and improved treatment options for these children in hope of one day putting an end to this horrible disease…Together, we can make a difference!

I will be shaving my head to fund pediatric cancer research because this devastating disease tremendously impacts the lives of beautiful children plus their entire families and loved ones. My son, Joel, was diagnosed with Leukemia on Feb 17th, 2012 and I personally watched him fight cancer courageously over the past 3 years. Joel’s daily cancer treatments and hardships he endured should never be experienced by any child.

The small token of shaving my head is nothing compared to the positive inspiration of these amazing children battling this disease and I am honored to be involved with this fundraiser. I am shaving my head in honor of Joel, our “Brave Lion” and if possible, please help support this fantastic cause. #TeamJoelBraveLion

I am honored and humbled to participate in the 2015 Pediatric Cancer Foundation’s Cut for a Cure. Each year, the parents of approximately 15,700 kids will hear the words “your child has cancer”. As a father, it is my hope to build awareness and ignite action among my friends and business associates for this important cause and bring us one step closer to a cure.

I will be shaving my head in honor of my cousin, Keith Platt, who bravely battled and beat Hodgkin’s Lymphoma from the age 12 through 17.

I feel like it’s an obligation of mine to help children with cancer because I can relate to a certain degree of what they are enduring. I was born with Cerebral Palsy and was told at a young age I probably would not be able to function at a normal rate. With determination and hard work, I learned how to function without my leg braces and crutches and excelled at a high level in athletics. I proved a lot of people wrong. I want to give these children with cancer an opportunity to beat this horrible disease like I beat Cerebral Palsy. I owe a big thank you to my friend, Alex Sullivan, for asking me to be a part of this great event. As my hair grows back, I’ll be thinking of the kids and hope their hair grows back as quickly as mine.

I cannot think of anything more joyful than a happy child! Nothing symbolizes the essence of innocence and is more deserving of life and the opportunity to enjoy life than a child awaiting the future!
To witness a child stricken with such an undeserved affliction like cancer is painfully heart stopping and sobering! To be a part of ending this disease is an honor. Combining our efforts in such a productive manner makes everyone a helpful soldier in this war!

I am shaving my head because of my passion for the Pediatric Cancer Foundation and the young lives it saves every day.

I was excited when Tires Plus began its affiliation with PCF by having customers participate in a "Round Up" campaign. Customers were able to round their bill to the nearest dollar and that change was given to the Pediatric Cancer Foundation.

I felt I could do more to help the organization raise contributions and bring awareness to the public. With the inspiration of Jeremy Persinger, Director of U.S. & International Sports Marketing Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, we started an annual car and bike show to help bring the public out for a fun event while putting the spotlight on pediatric cancer and raising money. Cut for the Cure is my next step in helping by not only bringing more awareness to the organization, but also raising more money needed for research to save the lives of sick children…a child who could one day be a doctor, saving more lives or a researcher looking for the next cure. Who wouldn't want to be a part of this?

My involvement with the Pediatric Cancer Foundation began eight years ago when I learned how little funding exists to find a cure. I was shocked to learn that more money is spent annually protecting manatees in Florida than is spent worldwide on research aimed at finding a cure for pediatric cancer. While I am all for protecting the environment, I think our children should come first. I would be grateful for any donation that you could make to help in the fight to find a cure.

I was first introduced to PCF when a close friend invited me to fish in the Grand Slam Tournament. It has been my honor to serve on the board of this great organization and see firsthand the progress being made. I am shaving my head to raise funds that will be used to create less toxic treatments and ultimately, a cure for childhood cancer. My goal is to raise enough money to fund one child’s trial.
